My Love of Pinterest...and some projects

Have you ever heard of Pinterest?  I am sure you have if you read as many blogs as I do.  It is one of those things that you think "Why didn't I think of that".  Pinterest has taken the place of me bookmarking everything I want to remember.  It is a "virtual pinboard" of everything you like and want to remember.  You can check out and follow my Pinterest boards here.  I recently found these yummy things..

                                             Source: via Lookie on Pinterest

I decided to make some last night and OMG...they were so quick and easy and DELICIOUS.  My family loved them.  Here is proof that I made them.  I'm no food photographer but just wanted to show you that they really do look like this.

Something else I found on Pinterest that I immediately wanted to make sure I do is this......

Christmas card holder...BRILLIANT!!!
Is this the cutest way to display cards for the Christmas Holidays...I stopped at my local Pickers Point on Trade Day Tuesday's and found these for $5.00.  They are the old saloon style shutters, but I love that they have some character to them.  I can't wait to clean them up and spray paint them.  I have the perfect place in the house for them.

I hope that you will check out Pinterest and get inspired to create something wonderful!

Have a Great Day!

The Container Store during the Christmas Season

I don't know about all of you, but I LOVE The Container Store.  I go into this store at least once a week for something, but my favorite time at The Container Store is during Christmas.  If you have never been into this store because you think it's all about closets, trash cans and kitchen stuff, I HIGHLY recommend you go there during Christmas.  Here is what you will find when you walk into the store....a Gift Wrap Wonderland!

picture taken with iPhone...not the best quality but you get the idea...AAAHHHMAAZZZING
my niece is a Chi Omega and their mascot is the freaken cute is all of this owl wrapping paper!
All of the wrapping paper is sectioned off into themes and colors and they have all of the coordinated ribbons, tags and bows to go with everything.

In the middle of the Gift Wrap Wonderland are islands of little gifts.  This is where I get really excited because this is where I get alot of my gifts for friends and where I find alot of stocking stuffers.  Here is the catalog you can grab and take home in case you can't make your mind up on the spot.

Here are a few of my favorite things from this years selection.

Look a the iPhone Cases available.  They are made of silicone and are so pretty!  There are four designs to choose from!

How cute are these sticky ties!  They are reusable and wipe clean with a cloth.  Great gift for a boy or girl!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this iPad stand.  I am always using my iPad in the kitchen to follow recipes and this little stand will make it so much easier.  It also works for the Nook and Kindle.  Great stocking stuffer!

These power strips are so much fun.  These are great for the kids in college or Mommy's office or craft room (that one was for me).

My son will LOVE these glasses.  How fun do they look!  Great stocking stuffer.

This catalog has so many more gifts ideas in it, but these were just a few that really stuck with me.  Hope you can make it by The Container Store won't be sorry!

On a side note...I saw apple container...Will this make a cute teacher gift or what?  Personalize it for your child's teacher with vinyl and fill it with whatever you want!  This will be my Christmas gift this year for Miss Stephanie!

disclosure:  this posting is my viewpoint only and The Container Store has no idea I'm posting this.  I love sharing great things with you and wanted to show you what an amazing place this is at Christmas!

My Cat

I hardly ever post anything personal on my blog but I just wanted to share a cute video with you guys of my dear cat that I had for 17 years before he became very ill and had to go to "Cat Heaven".  Our cat was found as a kitten at a garbage dump and he quickly became part of our family and we just loved him sooo much.  He survived getting stuck in a mattress for hours, eating 2 feet of dental floss (won't even tell you how that ended) and moving four times.

Please click on my "Facebook" icon over on the right to see our cat in action....seriously in action...ON THE TOILET....yes, our cat used the potty!!!

I'm working on an amazing and cute project that consists of burlap and keys and pictures...I hopefully will finish this weekend!

Have a great day and weekend!  Now, go watch the video!!!

Before You Go......

If your like me, you are always in a rush to get out the door.  There is always something I'm having to remember and I have always just put up a note on the door so I would see it as I exited to the garage.  It looked like this last week.

My son had a trike a thon at school to raise money for St. Jude's and I didn't want to forget to load the scooter and grab his helmet.

I then had an "AHA" moment and thought about putting some kind of system on the door.  I didn't want to paint it because I didn't want to ruin a door that I would have to fix the next time we move.  I was in Jo Ann's the other day and came across this...

It is 2 sheets of Chalkboard Vinyl from Die Cuts With A View.  The sheets are big too....39.25" x 23.25".  I knew when I saw them that I could cut them to fit the inside of my door.  I had a 50% off coupon and I only paid $9.99.

Here is what I did to measure the door.

I used some brown paper I had to trace around the inset of the door.  I did this more for the arch that is in the inset, because I could measure the sides and bottom.

I cut it out and placed it up there one more time to make sure it fit.  Now I'm ready to cut out my vinyl.

After I was confident that it was going to fit, I placed it on the back of the vinyl and cut it.

Here it is after the vinyl was cut out and hung.  I also went ahead and cut out some vinyl for the square at the bottom of the door just to give it a complete look.

I wanted to put a title on it just to make it more cute and I came up with this.
Before You Go....

There are times when we have to return papers to school or I don't want to forget the shopping list, so I put a clip I had bought a long time ago on the door.  I used the 3M picture hanging strips to adhere it to the door.

I am so excited how this turned out and love that I won't ever forget anything again!

I know this will get so much use.  My husband wrote our son a sweet note this morning on the door before he left for work.  It was such a sweet surprise when we were leaving for school.

Now that I see this little hallway, I think I am going to have to make a cute rug to go in the hallway.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Best Buy Party hosted by Tip Junkie

This past weekend I had the privilege of being invited to a Best Buy event hosted by Laurie Turk, aka Tip Junkie.  I was so excited about attending my first "blogger" event and immediately said yes!

Me and Laurie

She had all of us describe in "One" word what best describes us.  I had no idea what to put, so I put the obvious!  We also were asked to use to take all of our pictures.  I had never used it before, but now I'm addicted!

(The kids were even invited to attend and Laurie had some great activities for them)

The event was themed "All in One".  Gateway has released their new computer that really streamlines all of your work with one computer.  It was a really slick computer and very user friendly.  A representative from Best Buy was there to help with any questions and he also gave a small presentation on the computer.  Before the event was over a lucky couple won a $50 gift card and another blogger (sorry, I can't remember) WON one of the computers.  How awesome was that...

This event was so much fun because I was able to meet blogger's from around the DFW are a few that I met.

Jamie from Roubinek Reality.  She wrote a post about her experience here.  She was so super friendly and I enjoyed talking with her about the "Aggies" and "Tigers"...wink wink

Kristen from MommyKudos.  I discovered through talking with Kristen that we attend the same church...what a small world.  Loved meeting you Kristen, and I hope we get to see each other again!  I just checked out her blog too and she also wrote about the it is!

Thank you Christy from Devotion Mama for letting me know that I had 29 updates to my apps on my iPhone...took care of that as soon as I got home.  Thanks Christy!

Connie from Smockity Frocks was one of the first bloggers I spoke with as soon as I got there.  She was so sweet and has the neatest blog.  Please go check her out!

There were so many others there and I wish I had time to talk with all of them.

Thank you Laurie for inviting me and to Best Buy for having such a great product.

I Finally Have a Foyer Table

My foyer has been without a table since we moved in a year and a half ago.  I have wanted one for a while, but I didn't want to break the bank just to have a piece of furniture there.  I stopped over at Pickers Point a couple of weeks ago and found this adorable table for $100.  I was so excited because I did not have to do anything to it.  It was the perfect length and color and fit perfectly in the foyer.

It was the perfect place to put my beans that I dyed on the table along with some plastic pumpkins on candle sticks.   I have had these pumpkins for many years with the word "BOO" on them with vinyl.  The baskets came from Target and I simply just labeled them with vinyl instead of writing on them with chalk.

This cute picture frame I found at Hobby Lobby around Easter time.  You fill it with candy!  How cute is it!

I finally got to hang the frame that I showed on my blog a while back.  In case you missed that post, you can view it here.  (Yes, that is a Nerf basketball goal in my house!)
I don't want to forget the lamps, they came from Home Goods!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great Thursday!!

Stenciled Bird Place Mats

I have been looking for some really cute place mats for my kitchen with some birds on it and then I came across these awesome burlap place mats at Home Goods and then got even more excited when I saw the price.  I got a 4 pk for $7.99.  I thought I would take these home and cut out a stencil using my Songbird cartridge.

Lookie at what I did!

I used my cricut to cut out a bird on a branch and used the same stencil paper from Hobby Lobby that I used here.  I decided to use the same bird that I used to decorate my trash can.  Yes, I decorated my trash can, check it out here if you missed it!

The stencil is cut out and ready to go.  I centered it on the place mat and then painted it with the color Ebony from Deco Art.

See here....looks messy.

But when you take the stencil off, it's so clean and cute!

I repeated all the steps with the other three place mats!  I love the way they turned out.  Not bad for an $8.00 project!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Shopping Card Key Chain

I don't know about you, but I HATE all those shopping/reward cards in my wallet.  Every store has them and you basically have to use them to get the better price for the item you are buying.  My wallet was exploding with all of the cards!  I decided to put them on a key chain so I would be able to have quicker access to them and it was a way for me to get them out of my wallet.

"Lookie" What I Did here:

I started by cutting two pieces of fabric 8" x 8"

I put the patterned fabric face down and then sewed the fabric together down one side.

Open it up and it looks like this.

I then folded 1" down on the top and bottom and ironed it.

I then folded the sides in to make the width 4 1/2"

Folded it to look like this and then sewed it together.

I then went along the sides and put a top stitch.

Marked a little hole where the eyelet was going to go on each side.

Punched the hole.

Put the eyelet in the hole and set it.  Do this on both sides.

Punched holes in my cards where they would line up in the case. you go.

I added a flower to each side to dress it up a bit.  I LOVE much easier to get my cards and my wallet is very happy!

The finished size is 4 1/2" x 3"

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!
