Gold and White Christmas Home Office

Good Afternoon on this cold snowy day.  I hope everyone is enjoying the last couple of weeks or so we have left in December.  Today I wanted to share our little home office with you.  I decided to decorate it with gold and white and I'm really happy with the way it has turned out.

These pictures are from a long stay in London almost 15 years ago.  I am so glad that I had them framed in gold back has finally come back in style.

This desk was purchased at Sam's years and years ago for $50..we just sanded it down and repainted it white and spray painted to handles a metallic gold...

Anthropologie's newest white and gold monogrammed them...perfect for holding pencils on the desk...

This is a mercury glass box that I found at Home Sense.  I'm sure it is used to hold jewelry or something, but I have opted to use it on our desk to hold the unattractive stapler, cords, etc.  All of that ugly stuff is hidden away in this pretty box.

See inside....

This hutch was my first chalk paint deserves a post in houses the TV and file boxes.

Filled a lantern with leftover Christmas ornaments and strung clear lights through the lantern.  You can read about that here.

A small white shelf is decorated with some gold and white accents that came from Home Sense.  The mirror is from Target.

These keys were purchased antiquing with my girlfriends and I simply just spray painted them metallic gold.

This sled was a craft project that I wrote about here.

We found a gold slim tree this year for the office and I might have to just leave it up all year long, but I don't think my husband will go for that.  The hat topper was talked about here if you wanted to see how I made it.

Leftover ornaments in a crystal bowl we received for a wedding gift almost 20 years ago.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Just in case you missed some of the links for a few of the projects above, here they are again!

Gold Reindeer Sled

I am so happy to share this super cute gold sled.  I have had the wood craft sled in my closet for a year. I purchased it at Michaels at 80% off last year after Christmas.  I never really knew what I was going to do with until this year (I couldn't pass up such a good deal, they were practically giving it away).  I needed something long to hang on this shelf in our office and it was the perfect addition.  Below I am going to show you how easy it was to make.

Items Needed

Wood Craft Sled (Michaels or any craft store)
Spray Paint

I first started by spray painting the gold with a metallic gold spray paint.

When I decided what I wanted to add to the sled, I simply went to my Silhouette Cameo and chose a reindeer design that I liked.

I cut the reindeer out on white vinyl and then applied it to the sled.

Then hung it on the shelf.

How easy was that?  I am so happy with the way it turned out.  I think it was a great choice!

A "Frosty" Hat Tree Topper

I was so excited when I found a slim metallic gold Christmas tree for our office this year.  I decided to decorate it white and gold but I was unable to find a good tree topper anywhere.  I knew that I wanted something different so I decided to make one with supplies I had in my craft room.  Let me show you what I came up with....

Here is what I used to make this simple and inexpensive Frosty Hat topper.

Cardboard Hat (In Christmas craft section at Michael's)
Mod Podge
Paint Brush
White Acrylic Paint (Not Shown)
Bag of Artificial Snow
Bling (I used Rhinestones and Ornaments)
Strip of Gold Vinyl or Craft Paper

The first thing you need to do is cut a strip of metallic gold vinyl (or craft paper) and wrap it around the base of the hat...

The next step (which was an after thought and I am glad I did this step....Don't Skip) is to paint a coat of white acrylic paint all over the hat.  This will make the base of it white instead of brown which could have shown through when I started gluing the artificial snow to it...

After the paint dried, start on the top and spread a liberal amount of mod podge all over...

Pour the artificial snow on top of the mod podge and press it in.  I found that pressing it into the mod podge helped it stick....

Repeat the same steps as above until the whole hat is completely covered in the artificial snow...

Let it sit overnight and then add your bling to it.  I put the rhinestones around the gold strip and then hot glued three little white ornaments and two white sprigs to the side...

I love how it turned out and how it is so different....

Thanks for stopping by....

Have a great week!!

Ornament Filled Lantern with Christmas Lights

Have you ever had ornaments leftover and never knew what to do with them?  Today that happened to me as I was finishing up decorating the office for Christmas.  I had this lantern sitting in the corner and I thought I would throw my leftover gold and white ornaments and a box of battery operated lights and I love how they turned out.  This was so simple and easy and just wanted to share it with you.

Here's what you will need:

Battery Operated Lights (these came from Michael's, 20 strand)

I started by placing the battery pack of the lights in the back corner, set the timer (it goes for 6 hours and then turns off), started filling it with ornaments and then just kept pulling the light strand up as I kept filling it.  It is really goof proof and it looks great.

You could even do this with a big bowl, box or evan hurricane lamps.  They would be so pretty in the guest bathroom at night...I might have to do that!

I will be back in a day or so to share the whole office.

Thanks for stopping by!
