Halloween Tree DIY

I decided this year that I just wasn't going to do much decorating for Halloween but I did manage to make the two decorations I did put up this year.  Yesterday I posted here the mesh wreath I made and today I wanted to share a very inexpensive way to make a Halloween tree.

Listed below are the supplies needed to make a tree from a tomato cone.....

The Christmas garland is 9 ft. long each and I used two strands of garland....

Black spray paint and cable ties to secure the garland to the tomato cone....

Halloween lights.....

Wrap and cable tie starting from the bottom and working your way up.  Some of my Christmas garland was already painted black from last years Halloween decorations....

Spray paint the whole tree....

I cleaned out my plants for the winter season coming up but kept the soil in my planter for the weight...

Place the painted tree on top of the soil and string the lights onto the tree...

I had some long hooks that I used to secure the tree into the soil....

I then decorated the rest of tree with some of my Halloween decorations...

This was the easiest decoration to create and very inexpensive.  The only thing I had to purchase was the tomato cage...

I think I'm going to use the same technique to create a beautiful Christmas tree this year....

Happy Halloween!!!

  1. Your Halloween tree looks great! Your wonderful tutorial on how to create it makes me think even I could do it - SO NOT CRAFTY! I think spraying the garland black is the key to making this tree seem Halloween-ish. Good idea to make another one for Christmas, can't wait to see it! Visiting from Craftberry Bush.
